Position: Marketing Coordinator

General Description of Duties

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the management and coordination of all  marketing efforts of 88Nine Radio Milwaukee. Additionally, this position is responsible for the creation, development and implementation of non-member e-newsletters and management of the volunteer program. This position executes all sponsorship /trade/ relationships including The Discover Milwaukee Tour and Summerfest.

This position will work in coordination on other projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.


Prefer a minimum of 1 to 3 years experience in special events, marketing and e-marketing.


Graduation from a 4-year college or university required. A 2-year degree with a minimum 5 years related work experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization, may substitute. Event, communication, marketing and/or public relations experience desirable.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execute all trade and paid sponsorship agreements under the direction of the sponsor partnerships manager

  • Manage the Discover Milwaukee Tour including Summerfest

    • Be on site at some Discover Milwaukee Tour events and all Summerfest dates

  • Manage all aspects of volunteer committees and volunteer coordination, including but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, supervision, training and acknowledgement.

  • Manage the shifts and schedule of volunteers for Discover Milwaukee Tour, Summerfest and other events that Radio Milwaukee sponsors

  • Be the main point of contact and communicate with all volunteers or temp staff to ensure they are meeting specific event goals and completing recap reports

  • Coordinate the pickup/delivery/return of 88Nine display materials and giveaway items for all scheduled appearances (may require some evening and weekend work hours)

  • Oversee the creation and distribution of e-newsletters and other communications to non-members to build awareness of the station and its efforts.

    • Write and program bi-weekly listener newsletter.

  • Other e-blasts as assigned

  • Identify email open-rates and put together email lists for specific content categories

  • Develop and maintain newsletter strategy

  • Develop and implement marketing plans and materials in conjunction with marketing team.

  • Help establish and expand merchandise opportunities.

  • Actively participate in staff committees as necessary and appropriate.

  • Assist the Director of Marketing and Communications in other marketing programs as necessary.

  • Advise and coordinate with other departments on promotional activities, communications strategies and content. 

    • Includes communication and coordination with our creative vendors

  • Manage and order all premium and event supply inventory under the guidance of the Director of Marketing

  • Participate in city-wide cultural, non-profit and business alliances to ensure good working relations and identifying opportunities for partnerships and cross-promotions. Build organizational brand, reputation and image in the community.

  • Participate and assist in select Cultural Commons planning and execution from planning stages through event execution.

  • Co-manage 414 Music Live including set up and clean up

    • 414 Music Announcements including: website, Facebook and newsletter event updates.


In addition to a regular 40-hour work week, all of Summerfest and select Discover Milwaukee Tour events as determined.
