For the last 32 years, Running Rebels community organization has been working to reduce violence and incarceration among males in the inner city.
Besides its athletics program, it also offers hands-on experience in music production. But to get time with the equipment, the youth must keep their grades up and earn merit points by participating in other Rebels programs.
The message of the music must be positive, too. Instead of reliying on crass language and risque subjects, Running Rebels challenges its youth to dig a bit deeper and focus on the art of songwriting.
