Chilean cumbia maestro Chico Trujillo is about to drop his latest album, Gran Pecador, and I like it, like it lots. If you've never heard of Chile's favorite musical son, you probly ought to. When Lollapalooza sets up camp in South America, Trujillo and his mates are among the first they call. Mainly, cause they know how to start a party; lathering crowds into a drunken frenzy of sing-alongs and foot-stomping ever percolating ska and punk influnced cumbias.
In Pinochet's Chile, dancing to tropical rhythms was forbidden; in Chico Trujillo's Chile however, it's mandatory. That's a good thing...
