Jordan here back on the Unified Milwaukee Blog. This morning I invited Aaron Edwards and Maria Sandoval from Safe and Sound Community Partners into the 88NINE studios to speak about the 3rd annual Basura Bash!
The 2010 Basura Bash is scheduled for Saturday, May 22nd from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will start from Kosciuszko Park, 2101 S. 7th St., on the corner of 7th and Lincoln. Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful is integral to the planning and coordination. The Department of Neighborhood Services has also made a big commitment to the event this year. They value and appreciate the strong support of resident groups in community wide improvement efforts. Residents from all walks are encouraged to join in at 10 AM and help out at more than 15 Southside sites for community improvement projects. At noon, a big Basura Bash fiesta is planned, including free food (nachos!), entertainment, Zoo passes and more!
I was able to speak with Aaron and Maria about this Saturday's event....
Volunteers are needed to make the day a success. Volunteers can contact and contact Maria Sandoval of Safe & Sound at (414) 221-6709 for more information, or just come to Kozy Park at 10:00 AM on the day of the event. Check out the fun pictures from last year!
