Camarada is an american indie rock quartet from Milwaukee, WIsconsin. Formed in the summer of 2006, they are comprised of Dan Siercks on bass, Adam Holly on drums, Jeremy Benishek on guitar and Matthew Mulligan on vocals and guitar.
The band has been likened to the work of Paul Westerberg and The Hold Steady, among other influences. When Camarada could not find a suitable local label for their genre of music, founding members, Benishek and Mulligan, formed their own, Coterie Records. The band is currently signed to Coterie Records, who released their debut album, King In The Dark in August of 2007. Their debut's basic tracking was completed over the course of 72 hours while borrowing the boathouse residence of a relative at Beaver Lake, Wisconsin in the winter of 2006. Recording and mixing of the album was completed by Camarada's bassist, Dan Siercks. Mastering was completed by Steve Fallone (TV On The Radio, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) at Sterling Sound, NYC. They are currently touring the U.S. and promoting King In The Dark.
The band's staple are their live shows, which are often described as loud, concise sets featuring little pause between songs. They have also developed a habit for squabbling with each other on stage, notably Sierck's incessant screaming "play!" at other members while attempting to tune.
