BEN WESTBEECH

Ben Westbeech's 'So Good Today' was one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2006. The Bristol based soul kid was classically trained in cello, voice and piano before getting into hip-hop and dance music, and his quirky brand of soul music is deeply refreshing.

Snapped up by Gilles Peterson's new label imprint, Brownswood Recordings, 'So Good Today' was voted in the top 5 tunes by listeners on Radio 1's Worldwide show on the strength of airplay alone and 500 copies of a limited edition vinyl release were snapped up in hours.

Westbeech's 2nd release was the song Nothing Else, which featured on the compilation Brownswood Bubblers and was released in October 2006. The track was also released as the A-side on the 2nd of a series of vinyl releases of tracks from the album in November of the same year. His 3rd release was a 'duet' with drum & bass producer Die entitled Get Closer.

His debut album Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life was released in early 2007 and has been followed by further single releases Hang Around & Dance WIth Me, as well as a re-release of a remixed version of So Good Today by the Dap-Kings.

His second album is due for release in 2011.
