Last weekend's Sound Travels was fun! New cumbia for the most part in the mix and some of the brightest talents in the cumbia game. Big names like Chancha Via Circuito, La Yegros and Quantic (with Ana Tijoux) are joined by rising talents like El Buho, DJ Chakruna, Thornato and many more. Give it a spin, I think you'll really dig this one...

Hands down, my favorite part about the Milwaukee Film Festival is the Cream City Cinema series.
It showcases the work of Milwaukee-based filmmakers, giving them a chance to screen their films at venues not normally available to them, like the Oriental Theater, Times Cinema and the Fox-Bay Cinema.
This year, the Cream City Cinema series features five feature length films, 14 short films, and another seven shorts directed entirely by local youth.

Imagine this scene -- the house lights dim inside a crowded theater, the audience chatter quiets to silence, and one person steps on stage. The lights go up, and with nothing more than a single microphone, an everyday Milwaukeean is transformed into a raconteur, sharing his or her true and personal story before a live audience.
That's Ex Fabula.
Every Fall in Milwaukee, Ex Fabula hosts monthly "story slams." It travels to different venues around Milwaukee's neighborhoods, building community through storytelling.
