New nonprofit helping foster kids and families

A new social service organization is helping children and youth who have been the victims of abuse to live better lives, filling service gaps in the complicated foster care system.

The Milwaukee Center for Children and Youth focuses on restorative justice, trust building and character development.  Founders Cyrus Behroozi and Michele Wink formed the orgaization in 2012 after leaving positions with the Department of Children and Families and Department of Justice, respectively.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation and Public Museum partner to offer free admission

The Milwaukee Public Museum is offering free admission during the weekend of Jan. 24 and 25, thanks to a one-time grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

Attendees will be treated as "members for a day" and will be able to visit all of the museum’s permanent exhibits and Daniel M. Soref National Geographic Dome Theater & Planetarium.  Visitors will also be eligible for discounts on food, beverages and gifts.

No reservations or proof of residence will be required.

Kizomba Angola Mixtape | Sound Travels Jan. 11th 2015

Okay, so I'd actually never really put in any listening time with the style I presented on Sound Travels last; at least not till a couple weeks back while surfing youtube videos and stumbling across one for kizomba. Kizomba, a style that is pretty big throughout Western Africa as well as parts of Latin America, had just never been in the frame for me. Strange that it hadn't, it originates in Angola and Angola is a place whose music holds a big draw for me.
