Under the direction of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dr. John, the world premiere of Spirituals to Funk represents the first-ever touring partnership between two icons of American music. Dr. John & The Lower 911 and The Blind Boys of Alabama will build on this legacy synonymous with their "big easy" style.

Based on the legendary Carnegie Hall concerts produced by John Hammond in the 1930s, this version of Spirituals to Funk features an integrated show that explores the connections between gospel, blue...s, and jazz.

Tom Wopat first came to public attention in the late 1970s as the freewheeling Luke Duke on the TV series The Dukes of Hazzard. In 1977, he made his Broadway debut in I Love My Wife. He went on to receive a Tony nomination for the role of Frank Butler in the Broadway revival of Annie Get Your Gun. Wisconsin-born, Tom's first love is music. He brings jazz and standards to this afternoon show.
