Wisconsin's Own is a new exhibition series that counteracts with our Wisconsin Masters series. Unlike the Wisconsin Masters series, Wisconsin's Own will feature contemporary Wisconsin artists, our first being Lenny Nagler. Nagler, a self-taught artist residing in Appleton, paints landscapes and portraits, both real and imagined, in a style reminiscent of Post Impressionist painted, using his own individual flair and distinctive elegance.
Garden of Curious Delights plays off the idea of the garden as a collection of specimens, much like the 16th century cabinets of curiosities, representing the complexity and wonder of humans in the "natural" whorl. Including the artwork of seven contemporary artists, the exhibition metaphorically expands the notion and boundaries of the garden, for which the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum is renowned, into the interiors of the Villa, making it, in itself, the Garden of Curious Delights.
Enjoy great musical performances in the Villa Terrace’s Mercury Courtyard, as you read, visit with friends, or simply relax. Coffee, tea and fresh pastries are available a la carte from Bella's Café. Cafe is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Musical performances begin at 10:30 a.m
Sunday, September 2- Trio Du Monde / European cafe music
Sunday, September 9- Roller Mills String Band / Hammered dulcimer, mandolin, guitar
Sunday, September 16- Lydian Harps / Jeanne Kahn’s Harp Studio
Summer's ending -- time to re-start the year! If it's back to school time for you or your family -- or even if you're just ready for a re-charge -- please join Kingo and community members for a special celebration. After summers in many places, we'll re-gather as a community for lively worship and fun. Especially, we'll bless families and educators as they begin a new school year. Worship 10:00 am, followed by a picnic with a street blessing of the newly reconstructed Olive Street and games for all ages (11:15ish).
Lana Del Rey got her start at 18, when she was still known as Lizzy Grant and moved from Lake Placid to New York City to write songs and perform in clubs.
It has been 6 year since we heard a new album from UK singer/songwriter Beth Orton. Orton returns with new album on October 2 called Sugaring Season.
This week's download comes from Glen Hansard, one-half of the duo the Swell Season.
