Milwaukee policymakers seek youth input on ending violent crime

The Milwaukee Common Council is asking youth living in Milwaukee's most violent neighborhoods for their input to reduce crime in Milwaukee.

It is a program called "MKE Peace Project."

The project asks young people to identify Milwaukee's violence problem in fewer than two sentences, provide a solution in less than 200 words, and outline the impact the solution would make in their neighborhood.

Entrants must be under the age of 18 and either reside in one of 11 Milwaukee zip codes located in the densest areas of crime, attend school in those neighborhoods, or be active in a community organization.

After the submission window has closed, the Milwaukee Youth Council will review the proposals and nominate finalists.  Those teams will be eligible for prizes including Summerfest tickets, Brewers and Bucks game tickets and other prizes to be announced.  There will also be random prize drawings from all submissions.

The deadline to submit proposals is May 21.   Follow this link to view the application form.
