One of the challenging things about SXSW is trying to find time to see your favorite band. It is even harder when your favorite bands or artists are playing at the same time in different venues. One of the artists I really wanted to see was Ireland's singer/songwriter James Vincent McMorrow. His music is simply amazing. So I was worried that I might not have a chance to see him in Austin until two days ago. While in the bloggers lounge in the convention center, I started to hear his music in the background. I thought it was the music they play throughout the day on the speakers. However, I looked up from my computer and on the small stage was James Vincent McMorrow performing. He was kind of enough to let us videotape his performance and sit down for an interview.
We talked about his new record, city of Milwaukee, and comparisons to Wisconsin's Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. You can see the interview and performance in the video below just in time for St. Patrick's Day, which was produced and shot by Mindpool Live out of Milwaukee.
Don't forget you can catch James Vincent McMorrow in Milwaukee on March 23, opening up for The Rural Alberta Advantage at Mad Planet!
