Twenty years ago, I graduated high school and started my freshmen year at Howard University. It was also the year that Perry Ferrell's Lollapalooza kicked off. The lineup for that first year included artists such as Jane's Addiction, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nine Inch Nails, Living Colour, Ice-T & Body Count, Butthole Surfers, Rollins Band, Violent Femmes and Fishbone. Can you believe, I know people who were only 2 years old at the time of the first Lollapalooza (scary).
Fast Foward to today, and the lineup is just as diverse as the first, but 100 times bigger. The Chicago festival just announced the lineup. Healining this year's festival will be Muse, Eminem, Foo Fighters, and Coldplay. Other performers include My Morning Jacket, Cee-Lo Green, Bright Eyes, Artic Monkeys, Two Door Cinema Club, Lykke Li, Atmosphere, Damian Marley & Nas, Black Lips, Foster The People, Mayer Hawthorne, Wye Oak, Kid Cudi, Anita Tijoux and more. To see the entire lineup visit the Lollapalooza site.
