One of my favorite Milwaukee festival is Bastille Days. I don't know what it is about the Bastille Days that make it my favorite. It could the vibe, or the music, or that huge model of the Eiffel Tower. Whatever it is, I'm very excited that Easttown just announced the lineup for the 2012 Bastille Days. This year's festival will be July 12-15 in Milwaukee's Cathedral Square Park and it will 31 years old.
Minneapolisʼ Davina & the Vagabonds will get the festival started the right way with sets on Thursday, July 12 at 11:45am & 7:15pm followed by soul revivalists, The Revelations featuring Tre Williams with sets at 5:30 & 9:15pm!
Friday, July 13 features Mardi Gras Friday with Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound starting the day off with sets at 11:45am & 7:15pm and New Orleansʼ own zydeco superstar, Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys playing sets at 5:30 & 9:30pm.
Big Samʼs Funky Nation will be bringing their New Orleans inspired funk to Bastille Days with sets at 4pm & 9:30pm! Trombonist Big Sam Williams leads the band that is “tight enough (and hot enough) to turn coal into diamonds”! You wonʼt want to miss this. Heating up Saturday, July 14 will be Milwaukeeʼs own Salsa Orchestra, Nabori with a set at 7:15pm.
Sunday, July 15 will feature some of Milwaukeeʼs hottest & best bands as well as a Grammy-winning opera company! Florentine Opera will perform for the 1st time at Bastille Days starting at 2pm. Herman Astro, fresh off a sold-out performance at the Pabst Theater with the Alabama Shakes will take the stage at 5:30pm and known to some as Milwaukeeʼs “guitar-less” indie band, Iʼm Not a Pilot will perform at 7:15pm.
