Hey guys. I made it to DC yesterday, and it brought back a lot of memories. Yesterday, I got an earlier flight from LaGuardia to DC Reagan International Airport. The flight was completely full. I took the train to my old neighborhood of Adams Morgan where I am staying with my good friend Jonathan. The trains were also packed. When I got out of the station I didn't even recognize my old neighborhood. It look like a completely different city. There was a Target, Best Buy, and countless other stores plus an abundance of new apartments and condominiums.
Today, I am heading to the ManifestHope:DC Gallery showing which features artwork that was inspired by the Obama campaign. Artwork from artist such as Shepherd Fairey, Munk One, and my friend Lichiban from NYC will be on display. Then I'm heading to the National Cathedral for MLK Program. Hip Hop Poet Bomani Armah, Urban Nation Hip Hop Choir, Violinist Daniel Davis, other artists reflect on King and contemplate Obama's leadership. Local poet, performer and educator Bomani Armah will lead a multi-sensory, musical and energized celebration along with middle and high school students.
Then I will try to get tickets to the "Let Freedom Ring" concert featuring Aretha Franklin at the Kennedy Center. The tickets are free and distributed at 4pm today. Then later on this evening I'm heading to the Stevie Wonderfull Party at Bohemian Caverns featuring DJ Spinna and Bobbito Garcia. Their Stevie Wonderfull partes are legendary. This is their first one in DC. The last on they had in NYC a few months back, Stevie Wonder showed up and people when nuts!!!! So maybe he will show tonight.
