Here at 88Nine, we love a great story about the city of Milwaukee. Just check out the stories we tell. However, we bet there some great stories that have never seen the light of day. A new project/contest called Dear MKE aims to bring some of those stories about our great city to the light of day. Dear MKE was conceived by film producer Jack Turner. Turner has produced the films Lovely, Still, Which Way Home, Racing Dreams, and Cold Weather.
Another part of Dear MKE will be 12 documentaries about Milwaukee that will be screened at this year's Milwaukee Film Festival, but the contest is the really cool part because he gets everyone involved in sharing what they love about the city. Anyone can submit videos, photos, or a written story to the Dear MKE website. There is also some amazing prizes for winning submissions, which includes four prize packages from local companies. Winners will be selected by Visit Milwaukee and the film producers and directors. Also some selected stories could be featured in one of the documentaries. Stories that will be featured in the film or one of the short documentaries will be selected by Jack Turner or the local, independent filmmakers. The deadline for the contest is August 24 at 11:59pm CST.
