Amel Larrieux has an unmistakable aura of purity and sweetness. My friend Frank and I had the opportunity to hang with the Blisslife family in LA back in January. Larrieux put on a stunning show at the Catalina Jazz Club on Sunset where she visited classics off of her Lovely Standards album, her first album she is not responsible for writing, as well as Groove Theory cuts and her heartfelt original material from over the years.
If you haven't gotten a chance to vibe to at least one of her solo albums, I'd highly suggest starting with her debut solo album, Infinite Possibilities released in 2000...my favorites: "I N I", "Weather", "Make Me Whole", and "Get Up". Amel is currently in the studio working on her next album.
Enjoy the "Get Up" video, the effects are really cool and there's nothing like this track on a Monday morning!! It's been one of my wake-up ring tones for quite some time :) If you've been down, it's time to 'Get Up'!
Have a fantastic Monday!
