Cupcakes reign supreme in this country. Almost every city in this country has at least one shop that specializes in cupcakes. There are TV shows that pit cupcake chefs against one another. Everybody loves cupcakes because their small, cute, and sweet.
What if you took all the elements that make the cupcake cool and let's say apply it to the ultimate comfort food - meatloaf? Everybody loves meatloaf, right? But it is not always the prettiest thing to eat, until now.
A Chicago eatery by the name of The Meatloaf Bakery aims to change the face of meatloaf forever. Replace the base of a regular cupcake with meat and then the icing as your favorite side dish such as mash potatoes and voila! The Meatloaf Bakery not only use the typical ground beef, but they use everything from turkey, chicken, salmon, and various vegetarian options for their creations. Take a look at their menu, and trust me your mouth will be watering. Items such as the Omega 3 Loaf, which consists of wild caught salmon baked with a hint of lemon and topped with wasabi mashed potatoes and served with fresh lemon-dill yogurt sauce.
Their "pastries" are comes in three sizes. Loafies are bite-size hors d’oeuvres versions. Then there is the cupcake, which is about the same size as a regular cupcake, and then you get a full traditional loaf. Their site even offers wine and beer pairings for each of their creations.
