Sound Travels continues where we left off on Tuesday, with another Reggae riddim. All week, I've been showing how reggae gets down when the selector rolls a set on a very particular instrumental, or riddim. Being that selector, I decided to share the Lee Scratch Perry produced "Blackboard Jungle Riddim."
The riddim is pretty crucial, and the original dubplate "Blackboard Jungle Dub," is a masterful cut, showcasing Perry's expertise on the mixing board as well as his pioneering approach to effects. From original dubplate to a dancehall riddim and then on to German electro-dub group Dubblestandart's futuristic re-version, we had a nice excursion.
