Twenty-two schools in Milwaukee and the West Allis-West Milwaukee school district were included on the annual list of "Wisconsin Schools of Recognition", issued by State Superintendent Tony Evers. The award is issued to schools that serve high numbers of low-income students that outperform other schools of similar size and demographics in graduation rates and achievement gaps. This weekend marks the 26th annual Indian Summer Festival, a celebration of the arts, culture, food and music of Native Americians. New to the festival this year, a Native fashion show, canoe rides and "Native Words, Native Warriors", the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian Exhibit

The long vacant Prospect Mall is poised for spring-time renovations. The project includes revamping the one-story building to create 10,000 square feet of new retail space facing Prospect and East Kennilworth, and a four story addition made up of 52 new apartments. 

Metal Girl Fest, a celebration of women that rock, comes to the BBC this Saturday night. 5 female-fronted bands from Milwaukee, Chicago, Madison and Sheboygan take the stage starting at 8pm.
