a.MKE: United We Dine, Artist-in-Residence expands and National Ave reopens 10.11.12

Marcus Hotels has expanded it's successful artist-in-residence program to two additional Marcus-owned hotels in Kansas City, MO and Oklahoma City, OK. The program began in the Pfister in 2009 to highlight the work of community artists and generate awareness of the arts community in Milwaukee.

West Allis officials will reopen a section of National Avenue that was closed for construction between 84th and 92nd streets with a ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon. An immigration law office and a Peruvian restaurant built on this street during construction will also open today.

Today is United We Dine day. Eat breakfast, lunch or dinner at a participating restaurant and a percentage of your food and beverage sales will be given to United Way to support local programs in Education, Income and Health. According to the Division of Museums and Historical Sites, attendance and revenue is up at the Wisconsin Historical Society's 11 sites and museums this year. Nearly 250,000 people generated more than 2.2 million in revenue.
