According to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, nine houses will be demolished before the end of the year along the KK River on Milwaukee's south side as part of a $60.6 million flood-control project. The entire project calls for 82 houses and one commercial building to be removed along the river so the bankss can be widened to contain greater flood flows.
Milwaukee County is considering adding two new beer gardens in the parks to help with costs for park maintenance. The idea is modeled after Estabrook Park's beer garden, which netted the county about $65,000 this year. Specific sites for the new beer gardens have not been mentioned yet.
According to our pals at OnMilwaukee.com, Lulu Restaurant and Bar closed the cafe side of it's restaurant yesterday. They are working on a remodel, adding more tables and a small bar to give it a loungey feel. The work is scheduled to be done before the end of the year.
The Shops of Grand Avenue was sold during the sheriff's auction yesterday to the sole bidder, the bank that owned the mortgage. Wells Fargo, acting as a trustee for Bank of America purchased the building for $8.5 million dollars. No plans for the building have been released.
