1. Jane’s Addiction has a new song
OK, so true story. I’m at SXSW in 2002. At that point it had become well known, but not as gargantuan as it is. It’s about 1AM and walking out of Emo’s (intoxicated, I’ll add) I notice out of the corner of my eye a man wearing the greatest pair of pants ever. They were stitched mirrorball tiles over the entirety of the garment. It was amazing (I mentioned that I was intoxicated, correct?) Someone should have been following him with spotlights. My friend, Mat, distinctly remembers me saying “Those are the coolest pants ever. Nothing could ruin them.” At that exact moment, the man turns to cross the street and I am revealed a profile shot of Perry Ferrell. Wearing what were formerly the coolest pants I’d ever seen.
Did I mention Jane’s Addiction has a new song?
2. Hire this young man
When Bob Uecker retires in a few decades, let’s consider Jacob Resnick. The 11 year old called an inning of a Mets game as a contest winner. I’m not sure being a Mets broadcaster is indicative of “winning” but whatever. He called a home run shot and well, just watch this. (I'm embed it, but MLB.COM doesn't believe in embedding. Thanks guys!)
3. “Special operations is about doing what’s not expected, and probably the least expected thing here was that a helicopter would come in, drop guys on the roof, and land in the yard,”
A fascinating read about the Osama Bin Laden raid. Movies have nothing on real-life.
4. Good pig. Oink, Oink
Here's Chris Walken reading Three Little Pigs.
5. Another cat related video
So it's an advert but it doesn't make it any less entertaining. Tomorrow you'll meet Maru. Maru is my favorite.
6. Nothing is wasted, only reproduced
Get Up Kids totally nail this version of Blur's "Girls & Boys."
To recap, Mirrorball pants, Bin Laden, Walken and kittens.
