Today and Sunday are expected to be the two busiest days for Mitchell International Airport. The TSA will increase the number of security officers at checkpoints inside Mitchell in order to keep more lanes open and lines moving. And there’s a change in screening methods for children 12 and under, they get to keep their shoes on. And for those with big families, that’s a big deal.
UW-Madison will now issue free student ID cards for those needing them to vote, specifically for students who don’t have other acceptable government id. The problem resulting in free ID’s was that many cards and university ID’s didn’t have the student’s signature and a two-year expiration date, which are two requirements. Wisconsin’s new photo ID law goes into full swing in 2012.
If you went to the Made in Milwaukee Festival back in September, you knew the weather wasn’t really cooperating, but tonight is your chance to experience an all-local Milwaukee event with over 40 musicians, DJ’s, artists and craftspeople, including Radio Milwaukee’s very own Madhatter aka Jordan Lee. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. at Turner Hall Ballroom.
Former Governor Tommy Thompson is planning on officially announcing his U.S. Senate campaign a week from tomorrow. Thompson plans to make the announcement at Weldall Manufacturing in Waukesha. His goals revolve around changing the high unemployment rate, balancing the budget and growing the economy with lower taxes.
Wisconsin’s DNR reported that hunters killed about 6,000 more deer during this year’s opening weekend compared to last year. As for numbers, more than 112,000 deer were harvested, which is actually nearly a 6% increase from last year’s numbers.
Summerfest is rolling on with its headliner announcements. I know it’s hard to look out to summer when snow hasn’t touched the ground yet, but Neil Diamond is set to headline the Marcus Amphitheater on July 8th. So far the only other act announced has been Lady Antebellum.
