According to an article in the Washington Post, North Koreans danced in the streets of their capitol in celebration a successful long-range rocket launch yesterday, despite international warnings against taking this step towards developing nuclear weapons. The White House called it a "highly provocative act that threatens regional security".
The United Way of Greater Milwaukee set a fundraising record for its annual community campaign this year raising $1.6million more than 2011, exceeding the $50 million mark for the second year in a row.
The State Department of Financial Institutions and the Department of Justice awarded Milwaukee $500,000 to tear down distressed homes in the city. The funds were made available from proceeds of a national mortgage settlement. Milwaukee has 500 homes on a list for demolition and this money will help demolish 39 of them. The first was taken down yesterday.
