Gov. Scott Walker announced plans yesterday for a proposed Family Justice Center to be built in Milwaukee to serve families and victims dealing with domestic violence. Children's Hospital and Sojourner Family Peace Center are partnering to build the project at 619 W. Walnut St. The state will match private donations to raise the $21.25 million needed, with construction to begin in 2014.
American Airlines and US Airways are formally announcing today their merger, leaving travelers only four major airlines to choose from. The merger will be the world's biggest and will keep American Airlines name but will be run by U.S. Airlines.
In December, the Milwaukee County Zoo announced the birth of two jaguar cubs. The last time the Zoo had jaguar cubs was 40 years ago in 1975. The birth was significant in that the cubs' father, Pat is a rescued, wild-born animal bringing in new genes to a captive jaguar population. Now the Zoo is asking for help naming the cubs as they ask that you only submit names that reflect the heritage or history of jaguars.
