88Nine RadioMilwaukee recently held the 4th annual Milwuakee Music Awards and networking party bringing dozens of bands and hundreds of fans together to showcase our homegrown talent. Tons of bands dropped off press kits and CD’s for the station. Bands who hadn’t met before had a chance to exchange music and ideas. Players, promoters and club owners all got to know each other a little better.

I talked to a few bands there about transcending generations, getting started as a group and something called ‘gypsy noir.’ Listen to the audio piece below to hear Craig from Honest Monday, Andy from Nom De Rap and Chuck from Vitrolum Republic in their own words about how they make music.
