"Make Milwaukee": The Harmony Initiative

Listen: How do non-profits arts organizations sustain and continue to grow in an inhospitable economic climate? What will be the nature of those solutions? One answer takes the shape of the Harmony Initiative, a collaboration between the Milwaukee Ballet, UWM's Peck School of the Arts, Froedtert Hospital, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Ballet's current home is classic Milwaukee -- cream city brick and exposed wooden beams with a character surpassed by its need for maintenance and upgrades. In this piece, we hear how mutual necessity led to the Harmony initiative, followed by a first-hand tour of that need:


While I love their current Walker's Point location, their proposed move makes an awful lot of sense for the Ballet -- I can't wait to see them join the arts groups flourishing downtown.
