Gilda’s Club “Show of Support Celebration” kicks off its community challenge grant campaign tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Pfister Hotel.

Gilda’s Club of southeastern Wisconsin has a mission to ensure that all people impacted by cancer in Greater Milwaukee are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.

At the event, there will be a “Support Fashion Show”. The models consist of all Gilda’s Club program participants and cancer survivors.

The evening will also have the official kick-off of the organization’s community challenge grant campaign. The grant is an opportunity that stems from a donation in 2010 by area businessman Mr. Stanley Kass. Kass pledged funds to develop Gilda’s Club new community-based program model of social and emotional support.

Recently, Mr. Kass pledged additional funds as part of a community-wide challenge grant, matching every donation dollar for dollar up to $250,000 in an effort to insure that free cancer support continues in Milwaukee. The Challenge Grant will go through June of 2012.
