This Friday is Dr Dre's birthday. What beeter reason to explore the music of one of Hip Hop greatest producers.
Dre is very well known for his early work with NWA, and his extremely succesful solo career. He continues to be one of the most buzzed about rap producers in the industry. He is also responsible for a number of huge hits for a long list of other artists.
Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Mary J Bliege, and even Jay Z have Dr. Dre to thank for many of their hit records. So today I thought we'd again look into a huge hit that Dr Dre was responsible for.
In the summer of 1996, Teddy Riely and Blackstreet had a number one hit with thier track "No Diggity".
A fun song, that crossed over into mainstream pop and became an anthem in the summer of '96. The track was co-produced by Teddy, Stylez and Dr. Dre.
The main sample is from Bill Wither's 1971 hit "Grandma's Hands."
Happy Birthday DRE!
