The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is sometimes referred to as the “ground zero” of rape as a weapon of war. Sexual and gender-based violence in the conflict zones of Eastern DRC has reached staggering levels, affecting tens of thousands of women.
Join us for a conversation about this issue with Dr. Philip Lancaster, an acknowledged authority on conflict in the Great Lakes Region of Africa. He served as General Romeo Dallaire’s Military Assistant during the Rwandan Genocide, and has held numerous leadership posts including Director of the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Division of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Congo and Coordinator of the UN Panel of Experts for DRC.
