Outreach for Hope, an ELCA Lutheran-based charity that helps people throughout the Greater Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin areas who are struggling with poverty and making ends meet, is holding a Family Bike Ride Sat., Sept. 10, to generate funds to enable it to continue its mission of providing varieties of aid and assistance. Registration is $25 for adults, $15 for children, and $45 per family. A noon picnic lunch is included for those who register.
The bike routes will include a 14-mile or less Glacial Drumlin ride for families, plus 30-mile and 45-mile road rides for more avid bicyclists. The road rides start at 8:30 a.m., and the family ride begins at 9:30 a.m. All rides leave from Cory Park in Dousman. Riders are encouraged to obtain pledges for completing the rides, with all pledges and separate donations matched by supportive individuals and Thrivent Financial.
Outreach for Hope was founded in 1995 and has helped the needs of the poor through meal programs, financial helping hands, homework help programs for school students, spiritual enrichment programs, and community support initiatives. It works through the Lutheran Greater Milwaukee Synod, covering ELCA churches in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Washington, and Sheboygan counties, and beyond.
