Lenard D. Moore, nationally known poet, essayist, fiction writer, playwright, and book reviewer, will read his poetry accompanied by local jazz musicians on April 9th, 7:00 p.m. at Mount Mary College, Helfaer Hall, 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway. The poetry reading, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the College’s Master of Arts in English Program and is part of its “Writers on Writing” series.
Moore is the author of several poetry collections and is the Founder and Executive Director of the Carolina African American Writers’ Collective. His work has appeared in over 50 anthologies and has been translated into several languages. He will read from A Temple Looming, a collection of poetic portraits of African Americans, In Daddy’s Arms, an anthology of children's poetry, and his newest work from an upcoming book of poetry about jazz entitled, The Geography of Jazz.
Copies of Moore’s books will be available for purchase and signing afterwards.
Jazz Trio musicians, including Dennis Klopfer, pianist, Bill Feldman, drummer, and Dwayne Stuermer, guitarist, will perform while Moore reads.
