A block party in January? Yes!
To celebrate the City Of Milwaukee's 165th Birthday, the Milwaukee Press Club is hosting the Ultimate Neighborhood Block party. This is the premiere social and business networking event of the year. It’s the only one that brings together hundreds of movers, shakers and news makers from southeastern Wisconsin who will join Milwaukee’s Mayor and members of city and county government in a toast to our great city.
The Milwaukee Press Club would like to invite you you to join hundreds of your Milwaukee neighbors and colleagues at the ultimate city neighborhood block party. This year’s City Birthday Party will feature a photo contest to “Name That Neighborhood”, a video contest on “Why I Love My Neighborhood”, historical images, neighborhood-inspired food and beverages and more!
This morning, Jordan had Jim Nelson of the Milwaukee Press Club in to tell us more about this unique event.
One of the most interesting parts of the party is the Press Club's ultimate neighborhood trivia contest, developed with assistance from Milwaukee historian John Gurda and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel neighborhoods reporter Tom Tolan. It will challenge contestants in their knowledge of historical, fun and quirky trivia regarding Milwaukee's storied neighborhoods. In addition to complimentary neighborhood-inspired food and beverages, live local music and giveaways, party guests will also enjoy a short historical presentation by Gurda and Tolan, and join Mayor Tom Barrett, Common Council President Willie Hines and others in a toast to the City's 165th birthday.'s
