The last of the Christmas Numbers compiled by Charles Dickens, Dr. Marigold’s Prescription is a tale of a “cheap jack” who hawks wares from a traveling cart with his adopted daughter, Sophie, who is deaf and mute. The story takes us from tragedy to triumph as the father and daughter’s relationship eventually matures and flourishes. Stephen Parr, as Dickens, portrays all of the characters with a powerful and theatrical flair.
