Over the past year, Creativity Works! Milwaukee Regional Creative Industries Project has conducted research on the Milwaukee 7 region, revealing that the creative industries workforce totals 66,707, providing over $2 billion in wages and representing 4% of all jobs in the region. The project, a joint effort of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Milwaukee and the Greater Milwaukee Committee, proved that the creative industries are a significant economic driver for the region. The mission of
Creativity Works! was to define, inventory and map the Milwaukee region's creative economy and develop a strategic action plan for the region's creative sector. To implement that action plan, the Cultural Alliance is changing its business model to better serve the broader creative industries in greater Milwaukee.
On April 13, the Cultural Alliance will reveal its new name and mission, and will launch the Milwaukee region’s very own creative industries networking events and website. Guests will have the opportunity to join those who have already registered their profiles and connect with the over 800 people and 300 organizations that have participated in Creativity Works! in the past. “Creatives” of all kinds—for profit creative businesses, nonprofit arts/culture organizations, and individual artists and creatives—will have the opportunity to network and build connections to grow their businesses.
The celebration will also include food/cash bar and a drawing for a free year-long membership with the new organization.
