Hey everyone, this is Anna- intern for 88Nine. Coming up on Saturday, September 28, is Bay View Gallery Night. Starting around 5 pm and hanging around till 11, a few dozen businesses will be open with art, music, food and of course a little bit of wine.

Many galleries, bars and restaurants are opening up their doors Saturday for local artists to display their work. Starting on the north side of Kinnikinnick near Becher Street, you could start your night at Boone & Crocket for some cocktails. After grabbing a drink, or two, walk all the way down KK toward Honeypie Café where a pie sampling will savor your taste buds throughout the night.

If you feel up to it, head to the east or the west away from KK and catch some of the other galleries. Feathers & Foxtails on Gladestone Place will have a fashion show of vintage clothing for sale. As well as free PBR and vodka drinks for those of you over 21. Puddler’s Hall to the east of KK on S Street Clair Street will have photography of Jenn Brindley, whose photographs of storms will have you wishing you were curled up in bed with hot chocolate and blankets. But…it may be better to be at Bay View Gallery Night.

Of course the kids can hang out earlier in the night. Alterra Coffee on KK will have some family friendly activities as well as local children’s clothing, Lalo. The kids may enjoy the live painting and demos happening at Brass Rooster.

Otherwise, head out to Studio Lounge for some Salsa dancing lessons and of course, some free salsa and chips. If participating in dancing isn’t your style at all, Hamburger Mary’s will have a Diva Drag show. This way you’ll bask in the glory of dancing without shaking your own thing.

If you’re feeling up to seeing some local music after wrapping your head around local art, head out to Café Centraal to see Sat. Night Duets and the Fatty Acids. Club Garibaldi has got some local music too- Myles Coyne & the Rusty Nickel Band, Vic & Gab, and The Ragadors. Or you can head out to Cactus Club where Boy Blue, Worrier and Bring Your Ray Gun will be playing some tunes. No matter where you end up after buying some art (hopefully!) you’ll be jamming out to some good local tunes.

With so much going on, I’m not sure where I’ll start and end. Most likely, I’ll be catching all the local music going on during the night, with the help of some wine and my friends. There’s plenty to do, maybe too much to check out in one night. You'll have a great time no matter where you end up.
