BONK! starts winter off with the three most brilliant people who were ever born: poet Soham Patell, poet Sueyeun Juliette Lee and hip hop emcee Kevin Getzen. Also, local knitting Maestro Foreseezen knits will be there selling items for anyone looking to pick up locally, hand-made holiday gifts.

SOHAM PATEL’s first chapbook, and nevermind the storm, came out from Portable Press at Yo-Yo Labs in 2013. Her work has been included in Denver Quarterly, Copper Nickel, the Volta, and various other journals. She is studying creative writing in Milwaukee at the University of Wisconsin and lives in Bay View with her little white dog.

SUEYEUN JULIETTE LEE is a poet and graduate candidate at Temple University, and teaches creative writing and literature courses at Richard Stockton College, as well as language craft for the College of Art Media and Design at the University of the Arts. She is a 2013 Pew Fellow in the Arts and the cofounder of COROLLARY PRESS. Her third full-length collection, SOLAR MAXIMUM, is forthcoming from Futurepoem Books in 2014.

KEVIN GETZEN is a hiphop artist from Racine, Wisconsin. Originally Kevin Brown, the name “Getzen” is a tribute to the type of trumpet that he and his father both played. After following his father in studying trumpet, It wasn’t until Getzen tapped into a talent he credits to his mother, writing poetry, that he first started to write lyrics and listen to rap and hip hop. . Now having performed on numerous occasions as well as opening for artists Add-2, Curren$y, Jason Derulo and Far East Movement, Kevin continues to just thank God for the support and blessings that he is given.

For more information on Foreseezen knits, look them up on Facebook, or visit their Etsy page (here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ForeseeZen).

BONK! is made possible through the generous support of its sponsors: The Scekic and Osborne Family Foundation, The Racine Public Library, The Friends of the Racine, WI Public Library, The ArtSeed grant (through the Racine Arts Council), The Urban League of Racine & Kenosha, Olde Madrid restaurant and the The Pink Magnolia restaurant. BONK! is also made possible by a sick gnar team of bad ass volunteers.

Stay warm until then, and see you on the 14th!
