MEARS Presents: Baseball – Innovations That Changed the Game
Since the late 1850’s the game of baseball has been described as America’s “National Pastime” and American’s love of the game has steadily increased up through the present day. Since then, innovations to equipment – the bats, balls, mitts, uniforms – dramatically changed the way the game is played. This new exhibit at Discovery World traces those changes and explains how they were done and why. We explore the evolution of baseball mitts from fingerless gloves to today’s professional models; baseball bats from the post-civil war models to those used by the likes of Ty Cobb, Eddie Matthews, Robin Yount and today’s stars as well as catcher’s equipment, and uniforms. This truly unique display, provided by MEARS, will thrill the up-and-comers as well as the veteran fans
This fabulous display is available for a limited time, from April 1 thru May 19 and is included with general admission to Discovery World; free for members. Go to discoveryworld.org to find out more.
