I've never been to a music festival the size of Lollapalooza before and I am beyond pumped. Besides the miscellaneous random mishaps and unexpected occurances that can happen at an event like this, here are three acts I'm fairly excited to see during Day 1:
A really fun indie pop band out of West Austrailia is perfect for the early afternoon. Their self-titled debut album is packed with catchy songs that are easy to groove to. The members of the band are all around my age too, and it's always fun to see what my peers are musically capable of. Not to mention, the drummer's pretty cute too.
Father John Misty
As a fan of the Fleet Foxes, I was a bit dissapointed when Joshua Tillman left the band to do his own thing. But after adopting the moniker Father John Misty, and putting out Fear Fun, I couldn't care less. It's a great soulful, folk album that I fell in love with immediately. I can only hope for an intimate mid-afternoon performance to take my mind off the dinner I won't be able to afford in a few hours.
Queens of the Stone Age
This is like my favorite band of my lifetime. It's a group I've wanted to see live for a long time and I can't believe I'll finally have the chance to. Frontman Josh Homme's perfection of stoner, desert rock and mastery of that bluesy, grungy sound took hold of my soul the first time I played one of their records. I can't wait to rock out just as the sun is about to set and start my night off on the perfect note.
Wish me Luck
