This week on the Seven O'Clock Sample, we are looking at the music of Common.  This Chicago rapper is arguably one of the most successful hip hop artists from the Midwest.  He has been consistently putting out records since 1991.

Common's debut album CAN I BORROW A DOLLAR? was released in 1992, and had some real hits on it.  One of my favorites was, "Soul By The Pound"

This track samples DeBarge's "I Like It" in the bridge...

Common's second album Resurrection  was released on Relativity Records in 1994.  Produced by No I.D. this album has a number of great jazz samples, including this awesome Ahmad Jamal track...

If you listen at 2:42, you will hear this sample...
