21 years ago, one of the most innovative and groundbreaking albums was released into the world. That album was called Blue Lines, and it came from the Bristol group Massive Attack. The album fused a variety of genres from hip hop, electronic, soul, reggae, and rock into a sonic masterpiece. Blues Lines laid the groundwork for a lot of electronic music and even some indie music that you hear today. It also helped launch the solo career of Tricky. Blue Lines not only pioneered the trip hop sound, but paved the way for groups like Portishead, who are also from Bristol.
To celebrate it's 21 year anniversary, Blues Lines has been completely remixed and re-mastered from the original tapes. On November 19, Virgin Records released the newly remixed and masterd album as a CD, digital release, and a deluxe box set. The box set contains contains the CD, DVD with 96K/24 bit high resolution audio files, the album split over two 180g vinyl LPs, and the original 24” x 18” Blue Lines promo poster. Both will be packaged in 5” and 12” card mailers, respectively, with the album’s artwork screen-printed per the original release.
Rhythm Lab Radio has been lucky enough to get one of these box sets, and we are giving it away to one lucky winner. We also have some CDs to giveaway too. Just fill out the entry form below. Make sure you answer the question: "What is your favorite Massive Attack Song?" The contest ends at midnight on Monday, December 17, 2012.
