Two hundred veterans from the World War II and Korean War eras experienced the flight of a lifetime this weekend. The group spent the day in Washington, DC visiting memorials built in their honor and returned home later that same day to a homecoming celebration. This flight marked the 20th Honor flight for veterans in Wisconsin.
A federal trial scheduled to begin today in WI could set the stage for legal challenges in the State Voter ID law. The trial involves a federal lawsuit filed on behalf of a now-deceased WI woman who was born at home in Jackson, Tenn in 1935 and never received a birth certificate. Without a birth certificate, Bettye Jones had to fight for months to get a stat ID to vote.
Federal officials are warning computer users about a new kind of malware, called Cryptolocker, that encrypts your files and holds them hostage until you pay a ransom of several hundred dollars. The FBI warns not to open any emails with attachments from strangers or that look odd. So far, the only computers affected are PC's with Windows operating systems.20
The world's largest camera, which produces photographs two stories tall, is on display outside the county courthouse in Monroe, WI. This replica of a vintage accordion-style camera, it's 35 feet long and 12 feet tall, is fitted with a super-sized lens valued at half a million dollars. It will be on display through November 17th and then will travel around the country for two years to document American culture.
