The city of Milwaukee is in negotiations to sell the historic John Thomason House on McKinley Blvd for only $20,625. The old, tax-foreclosed home was rehabbed with help from a grant from the Housing Infrastructure Preservation Fund. The HIP fund was started in 2009 by the city to help return occupants to vacant, blighted homes and simultaneously preserve the historic character of these homes that make Milwaukee unique.

Milwaukee co-working space Bucketworks will relocate to the Shops of Grand Avenue on Tuesday. Bucketworks recently raised nearly $22,000 in a single day to cover rent expenses at its previous location in the Walker's Point neighborhood. The landloard at 706 S Fifth Street decided not to negotiate with Bucketworks to remain in the space.

Chanting "No peace, no justice", more than 125 people gathered at the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Statue in Milwaukee yesterday to protest the not-guilty verdict in the Travon Martin case. The group carried flags and banners, wearing buttons with pictures of Martin to show their support for the Florida teenager shot to death last year by George Zimmerman.

There's a new tool people can use to find out water conditions at Milwaukee beaches. The Milwaukee Health Department is posting water quality information online for the city's three Lake Michigan beaches. A link for water quality information and beach advisories is found on here.
