The Next Door Foundation has purchased the former Northwest General Hospital building at 5310 W Capitol Drive for its expanded Head Start program. Work has begun on the 103,000-square-foot building to create 20 classrooms, a children's kitchen, a drama and art studio and other multipurpose rooms expanding service from 300 preschool students to over 1000.

This weekend several events will be held to mark the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington where civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr delivered his famous "I have a Dream" speech on August 28th 1963. Locations include Wisconsin's Black Historical Society, Milwaukee Public Library's Martin Luther King, Central and Villard Square branches and a march on Saturday on MLK Drive at 11:30am. 

The road, sewer and post-hurricane cleanup projects at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida will be led for the next five years by a Wauwatosa company. Oneida Total Integrated Enterprises landed a $46 million U.S. Air Force contract to design, inspect and manage construction of infrastructure for Cape Canaveral and five other missile tracking annexes. The company is owned by the Oneida Tribe of Indians of WI.

In Entertainment news, Ben Affleck will replace Christian Bale in the next Batman film. He will appear in a Batman-Superman movie slated for release in 2015.
