The WI Assembly approved, on a bipartisan vote of 68-26, a bill requiring at least two-thirds of the purchases in the state's FoodShare program to come from a list of state-defined healthy foods. The measure now goes to the state Senate.
Sherriff David Clarke Jr. finally handed over the keys to the newly appointed House of Correction Superintendent, Michael Hafemann just before midnight Monday. Hafemann was hired in March, but Clarke refused to let him take over. First order of business...he eliminated Nutraloaf, a mix of vegetables, beans and biscuit mix that Clarke fed to inmates with discipline problems.
Milwaukee Public Schools will join 1,500 other schools from around the country to celebrate National Bike to School Day today. Bike to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for bicycling and walking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children.
