The WI State Senate passed a bill requiring drunken drivers who injure someone to spend at least 30 days in jail. The bill would also make clear that anyone convicted for a 7th, 8th or 9th time must spend at least three years in prison. The measure now heads to Gov. Scott Walker.

The 32nd Annual "Taste of Milwaukee" will be held tomorrow at the Potawatomi Bingo and Casino Expo Center. More than 25 restaurants will be serving their signature dishes to help raise money for United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Wisconsin. Since its inception, this event has raised over $1.3 million for independent living, employment and respite care programs.

A major shopping development stalled by the economic recession is moving forward in Wauwatosa.  Big name retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom will be filling spaces of the Mayfair Collection, set for a grand opening on April 3rd. Phase 2 of the 80-acre project will include Whole Foods, plus restaurants, a hotel and a parking structure.

As reported by the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service, Layton Boulevard West Neighbors and Impact Seven have launched a new program to help put renters inside previously foreclosed homes. The Rent To Own Homes program rehabs foreclosed homes and turns them into affordable housing in the city. Monthly rent is based on income, and tenants who live in the homes for 15 years will be giving about $37,000 in credit toward the purchase price. More info here.
