Some of Milwaukee's busiest commercial streets may soon be outfitted with surveillance cameras. The Milwaukee Police Department's District 3 outlined a plan intended to raise and match a $200,000 grant, allowing as many as 100 cameras to businesses around the city. The proposal is headed to the Public Safety Committee.
Johnny Logan, one of the members of the Milwaukee Braves' 1957 World Series-winning team, was inducted into the Miller Park Wall of Fame yesterday by Bob Ueker. The former shortstop is first player to receive the honor since Lew Burdette in 2010, will be receive a granite place placed into the terrace area walkway surrounding Miller Park.
The first named storm of the Atlantic season, Tropical Storm Andrea, is hitting the Carolinas this morning with 45 mile per hours winds, as it travels up the East Coast. Although the storm lost some intensity late last night, forecasters warn it could cause isolated flooding and storm surges over the next two days.
A Madison company that developed a portable device for treating diabetic foot ulcers won the grand prize in the 2013 WI Governor's Business Plan Contest. NitricGen Inc. won the overall competition, and will share $200,000 in cash and prizes with winners in other categories.
