Three people are in custody awaiting formal charges in connection with the theft of the 300-year-old violin. Two men, ages 36 and 41, and a woman 32, were arrested at their Milwaukee homes Monday. The instrument was stolen Jan. 28 from Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Frank Almond after a performance at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

A Madison Judge has struck down permit rules being used to prosecute outstanding tickets against Wisconsin Capitol protesters. The Dane County judge found state rules requiring small groups of protesters in the statehouse to obtain a permit were unconstitutional, and dismissed a ticket against a protester this week. The state Justice Department is reviewing the ruling.

The Jazz Estate, an iconic East Side jazz lounge that has been for sale since last fall, has a new owner. Matt Turner, Milwaukee musician (Static Chicken, De La Buena) and longtime staff member, is taking over ownership along with Jamie Fraters, 13-year service industry veteran. The new owners plan on building on the Jazz Estate's tradition of diverse music, and plan on offering more regional and national acts while staying committed to local bands.

The 50th birthday of what's called the world's first action figure is being celebrated this month by collectors and the toy maker that introduced it. G.I. Joe was introduced by Hasbro at the annual toy fair in New York City in early 1964. Don Levine, the head of research and development at Hasbro, who is often referred to as the "father of G.I. Joe", served in the Army in Korea and got the idea for the movable figure as a way to honor veterans.
