A shaky truce crumbled in Kiev on Thursday morning, when gunfire erupted at Independence Square, which has been ground zero for anti-government protesters. At least 20 protesters and one policeman died. It is unclear what prompted the gunfire.

As reported by the MBJ: Public Allies' David McKinney is joining the Alliance for Children and Families as director of the Milwaukee-based national group's new Center for Engagement and Neighborhood Building. The alliance is a national organization whose mission is to achieve a healthy society and strong communities for all children, adults and families.

In order to avoid large tuition hikes, Marquette University officials announced they plan to reduce staffing by eliminating 105 positions, which includes 25 staff members. The university currently employs 2,800 people.

Thousands of documents relating to the secret "John Doe" investigation, which many say is centered on Governor Walker's first Election campaign in 2010, were released yesterday by the WI Court of Appeals. The investigation has already resulted in the convictions of six of Walker's former aides during the time when Walker was County Executive. Many of the emails refer to a secret email system inside the County Executive's Office. More online here.
